I Wouldn’t Monetize Being a Trad Wife

I used to be in the tradwife space on Instagram, but now I am working on short videos about my life as a Catholic with a creative calling. (I am seeking the best platform for what I make). On one hand I hate doing it because the truth is, I don’t love being on camera, but on the other hand I really want to be able to help with dog rescue, and hopefully even start my own rescue. Having some funds coming in for that, aside from sporadic donations from people, would be great. It’s entirely possible that no matter where I put the content, I will not make a dime anyway.  But some people might wonder why, since I had some followers already on instagram, I didn’t start there and try to make money off my trad wife account. I could have built that into a money maker if I’d set my mind to it.

Call me crazy though, but I believe the things that I preach, and making money off of mentoring women is gross to me. In Titus, we are told that older women should teach the younger wives and help them to love their husbands and children. This is a biblical mandate. I will not monetize that.

Truthfully, the only reason I want to monetize anything is to support dog rescue. I intend to take a hundred percent of the profits, unless something horrible happens to my family, and put it into rescue. I’m not trying to make money. But I would feel comfortable monetizing the creative Catholic content, as opposed to the trad wife content. This is because on the trad wife content, I’m kind of in the middle in terms of whether I’m an older woman or a younger woman, but I can advise younger women and I am doing something that I am spiritually called to do. And it’s something I know about, and it’s something I have experienced and put into practice.

Whereas when I post as a Catholic, I am posting as someone new to the faith, and intend to be perfectly honest about that. I am experienced being married, but I am not an experienced Catholic. I am not giving anybody advice. I’m not going to say I have the answers, because I don’t. I am learning, and gradually trying to prune my life so that only the life giving branches stay. You judge a tree by its fruit, after all. Some of my fruit may be a little too sour. I am a citrus by nature, but maybe it’s too much. But I digress. Monetizing a channel that features a lot of stuff about faith and creativity for a good cause doesn’t feel the same as it would to monetize a platform where I was often asked for advice on spiritual and marital matters.
