Who are you most inspired by?

  1. Baudelaire/Emily Dickinson/ Lorca. Baudelaire was the first poet I fell in love with in high school. I bought his Les Fleurs du Mal in high school when I wasn’t supposed to be buying books. I hid it in my dresser under my jeans and read it at night by candle light. His luscious language and rich lines were so decadent. Dickinson and Lorca were next, followed by Plath. Dickinson was a recluse, something I sometimes relate to.  And she was from Massachusetts, as I am. Lorca let me dive into surrealism. And Plath opened my mind to the possibilities of modern poetry.
  2. My husband. If he doesn’t inspire a person to be kinder or work harder, I don’t know who will. After Jesus, he is the most inspirational man I’ve ever known. He’s brilliant, witty, and the best spouse imaginable.
  3. My mom. Our relationship used to be extremely rocky, but she’s the strongest woman I have known. Nothing has been easy for her. Nothing was given to her. And yet she has accomplished much.
  4. My new favorite magazine – Artdoc Photography Magazine from the UK.
